Film Scoring is an Atlanta Music High School course designed to empower students with musical and technological understanding and skills necessary to create musical scores for short films. Film Scoring students will have the opportunity throughout the year to work on individual and group composition and film scoring projects with professional faculty, and they will collaborate to create a score for a final capstone film that will be created by students in the companion Catapult Studios film production course.
Film Scoring will meet weekly (Wednesdays 2:30 to 5:30) during the 2018-2019 school year, providing ample time to thoroughly cover a variety of subjects critical to scoring music for films. The curriculum will include studies in the following areas:
Weekly course meetings will operate in an open classroom, workshop style approach that allows for individual attention and yet simultaneously fosters collaboration supportive of experimentation, risk taking and personal expression in the creative process.
Atlanta Music High School students are automatically eligible to enroll in Film Scoring as an elective for no extra tuition fee. Students who are not otherwise enrolled in Atlanta Music High school are welcome to enroll in Film Scoring ala carte. The fee for this comprehensive course for those who enroll ala carte is $3500 for the school year, which can be paid in full or in monthly installments.
