Invention in F Major – J. S. Bach

Written by

Invention No. 8 in F Major, BWV 779

J. S. Bach composed fifteen short pieces named inventions.  These pieces are also known as two-part inventions, since they have two different lines repeat and dialogue at each other (counterpoint).

The inventions are basically structured as: a theme that is presented by one hand, and then immediately repeated by the other hand; following to that is the development of that theme; and finally, a recapitulation, where the main theme appears once again.
