Mini-AMP is our intensive music education and enrichment program for PreK and half day Kindergarten students. Mini AMP is a unique program at our Dunwoody Center that empowers young children to express themselves very comfortably and naturally through music by immersing them in musical activities.  A combination of private lessons, group classes, and music activities offer the ideal balance of a focused introduction to playing an instrument with the pleasure of learning in a friendly, inspiring, social setting.  Mini-AMP is an appealing option for families who would like to enroll in a dynamic music education program, but whose busy schedules interfere with commuting to and from the Music Centers.  Mini-AMP is designed to be convenient, but more importantly, parents of mini-AMP students can trust their children are somewhere safe and engaged by an effective program and faculty during the early and mid-afternoon.

How mini-AMP Works

Mini-AMP operates at CMC Dunwoody whenever the DeKalb County Schools are in session.

Mini-AMP students come 2,3, 4 or even 5 days a week, straight from school to one of our facilities.  We offer (free) noontime shuttle service from PreK and half- day programs in the Dunwoody area to our facility on Chamblee-Dunwoody Road.  Students who are not currently enrolled in a PreK program are welcome, too; parents of these enrollees simply drop their student off at CMC Dunwoody by 12:30.  Parents or guardians pick their children up from our Center by 3:15 pm.

AMP enrollment fees include enrollment and participation in the Music Center’s Core Program during the after school hours:

• Weekly 30 private lessons on instrument of choice (piano, violin, cello, or guitar)
• a variety of ongoing Comprehensive Musicianship Program (CMP) activities, including drumming, singing, music recording, and more
• Performance Program enrollment: participation in developmentally appropriate performance events at the Center and off-site

Sample Daily Schedule

• 12:15-12:45  Arrival and transition to mini-AMP
• 12:45-2:45  30-minute Core Program Activity and Training Periods, including private lessons, activities, supervised practice, singing, music craft projects, video and art projects
• 2:45-3:15Closing Activities and Check out period

Fees cover Core Program instruction/tuition, transportation to the program from selected schools, and all supplies except student music method books and repertoire.
