The CMC Atlanta Performance and Production Catalog offers several different opportunities for string players. Players can sign up for a Performance Workshop that will emphasize playing in small ensembles. Stylistic options include classical chamber music, jazz combo, rock or fusion band, and more.
Other String Workshops and Camps focus on educational experiences for a specific age or level of skill and experience and skill development. For example, our String Rookie camps are ideal for beginners or players who have a bit of experience or ones who are rusty from a gap in studies. , Advanced Chamber Music and Strings Now! (which focuses on strings and technology), is designed for passionate players who want to gather with other advanced students to pick up new skills and insights.
9-9:45AM - Intro/Performance (Lead Instructor -Jenn Cornell will present a looping performance including an overview of her sound equipment, 6-String Electric Cello and multiple effects pedals and discuss her perspectives on how to find a unique voice of musical freedom within the structure of music and the use of technology.)
10-11- Extended Techniques Workshop (harmonics, color change/distortion, hammer on and pull offs, unconventional plucking, slides, power chords, and percussive techniques)
11:15AM Music Theory Basics/Ear Training (Overview of Scales, Key Signatures, Circle of Fifths, Chords and Intervals. Goal: to bring more awareness to how we listen to and perform music. Class will include listening exercises, descriptive writing exercises and creative drawing.)
2PM- Personal practice time of Extended Techniques and Improv with 12 part blues backing track (Student will need their own personal device for playing track from Youtube)
Workshop tuition varies depending on the schedule format.
Week long Camp Workshops for middle school, high school and young adults are $525 for full day attendance and $425 for half day. Discounts are available for multi-week, sibling or Buddies & Besties enrollment.
Multi day weekend or weekday workshops range from $125 to $450, depending on the contact time and the faculty or guest teacher.
Performance or Production Workshops that meet weekly throughout the school year vary by class and ensemble size and rehearsal/performance schedule.

We host workshops year round on weekends and weekday evenings. We host Camp Workshops for middle school students, high school students and recent grads just about any time local schools are out of class on break.
