Hollie Lawing: Trombone

Hollie Lawing graduated with her B.M. in Music Performance from Georgia State University and did her graduate studies at the acclaimed Cleveland Institute of Music. As a performer, Hollie has played with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Opera Orchestra, Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, as well as the Savannah Philharmonic, Hilton Head Symphony, Johns Creek Symphony, Columbus Symphony, Macon Symphony, and the Augusta Symphony, among others. She has been Principal trombonist with the Carla Rosa Opera Company U.S. Tour, the Sigmund Romberg Tour, and has performed on several occasions with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra, including a four-week tour to Taiwan. Hollie is a founding member and Trombonist with the Midtown Brass and also plays Principal Trombone with the Georgia Brass Band. In 2014 she played solo Trombone with the DIVA big band in the show "Maurice Hines is Tappn' thru life" in a 5 week run, presented by the Alliance Theatre.

In 2017, Hollie performed at the International Women's Brass Conference with the Athena Brass Band.

Hollie is adjunct instructor of trombone at Mercer University and Reinhardt University and maintains a private studio of trombone at Lassiter High School in Cobb County, as well as a studio in her home in Marietta, Ga.

    The Georgia Brass Ensemble Workshop is open to brass players grades 9-12 or graduates under 21 years old.  Older students may apply.

    The Georgia Brass Workshop will be held at Atlanta Music High School in the Druid Hills/Brookhaven area Atlanta Music High School 1934 Cliff Valley Way NE Atlanta, GA 30329
  • When? +

    The 2018 Georgia Brass Ensemble Workshop programming runs weekday June 4-8, from 9 am to 3 pm.  Students can arrive as early as 8 am, and for an extra fee we have supervised aftercare for minors.  Performances will be the morning of Saturday June 9.
  • How much? +

    Tuition is $400 for the week.  Tuition can be paid in full upon enrollment or by a nonrefundable deposit and balance due the Friday before the Workshop & Festival.  Tuition covers all instruction, instructional and performance materials, and daily lunch.

  • Who is eligible? +

    Film Scoring is open to students grades 5-8 and 9-12.  Background musical studies ideal, but since we divide ny age and skill level, all are welcome.
  • Where? +

    Film Scoring will meet at Atlanta Music High School in the Druid Hills/Brookhaven area.  Project support may include additional online  sessions or live tutorials.   Atlanta Music High School 1934 Cliff Valley Way NE Atlanta, GA 30329
  • When? +

    Film Scoring class will meet on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 5:30.  Additional private sessions will be scheduled as needed on an individual basis for project review and support.
  • How much? +

    Tuition for most Atlanta Music High and Atlanta Music High Prep students includes Film Scoring as an elective for no extra fee beyond AMHS tuition.  Tuition for all others is $3500 for the school year, payable in full or in monthly installments.

Performance Workshop

The CMC Atlanta Performance Workshop provides students the opportunity to play chamber music, rock, jazz, pop, blues and more with peers.  Students are grouped by skill and interests to prep for showcases, concerts, and more, ranging from in-house recitals to appearance on stage in major events, like the annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival in Piedmont Park.

Performance Workshop meets weekly year round; students also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in weeklong camps in June and July.
